These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and MoneyMotion. They say what you can expect from us, what we ask of you, and what happens when something goes wrong. Read them — especially the sections on paper trading, disclaimers, and disputes.
01The agreement
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and MoneyMotion, Inc. (“MoneyMotion,” “we,” or “us”) and govern your use of moneymotion.org, our mobile experiences, and any related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
02Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an individual account. If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you need a parent or guardian to agree to these Terms on your behalf, unless you're using the Service through a school that has obtained the necessary authorization on your behalf.
If you're agreeing on behalf of a school, district, company, or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
03Your account
- Keep your login credentials confidential — you're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Provide accurate information, and keep it up to date.
- Tell us promptly if you notice unauthorized access by emailing security@moneymotion.org.
- One account per person. Don't share, rent, or sell your account.
04What the Service is
MoneyMotion is a financial literacy platform. It includes short-form video lessons, quizzes, practice exercises, a paper-trading simulator, and teacher tools for schools. It's designed for education — not for making financial decisions with real money.
We're not a bank, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax adviser, or legal adviser, and nothing in the Service is intended as personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. For decisions involving real money, please consult a qualified, licensed professional who knows your specific situation.
05Paper trading, explained
Our paper-trading feature is a simulation. You start with play money; you place simulated trades; you see how a simulated portfolio would perform using delayed or live market data from third-party providers.
No real securities are ever bought or sold. No real money changes hands. Simulated results are not predictive of actual investment performance. Market data is provided “as is” and may be delayed or inaccurate. Paper trading is for education only — not a recommendation to buy or sell anything, anywhere.
06Plans, billing, and refunds
Free plans
- Students. MoneyMotion is free for individual students using the Service for personal learning.
- Title I schools. Our school offering is free for Title I schools. Contact us to apply.
Paid plans
- Adult individual plans are offered on a subscription basis at the price shown at checkout (for example, $6/month). Taxes may apply.
- School and district plans are priced based on enrollment and negotiated in a separate order form.
Billing
- Subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods (monthly or annually) at the then-current rate, until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime in your account settings. Access continues through the end of the current billing period.
- Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, email billing@moneymotion.org and we'll make it right.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. Changes apply to your next billing period.
07Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Use the Service for anything illegal or to harass, threaten, or harm others.
- Copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute our lessons, videos, quiz questions, or market data outside the Service.
- Reverse engineer, probe for vulnerabilities, or try to circumvent access or rate-limiting controls (outside a coordinated disclosure program).
- Attempt to use paper trading to manipulate, signal to, or otherwise interact with real markets, real brokers, or other users off-platform.
- Upload malware, send spam, or use the Service to train machine-learning models without our written permission.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age or school affiliation.
We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules. If the behavior is serious or illegal, we'll cooperate with law enforcement.
08Educators and schools
Educators can create classes, assign lessons, and view student progress. If you're an educator using the Service, you agree to:
- Only enroll students you're authorized to teach, and use roster data only for educational purposes.
- Comply with applicable student privacy laws (including FERPA and state equivalents in the U.S.) and your school or district's policies.
- Where required, secure parental consent before enrolling students.
Schools and districts with an executed order form are governed by that order form's terms in addition to these Terms; in the event of a conflict, the order form controls.
09Content and feedback
You may submit content to the Service — quiz responses, notes, profile info, messages to support, and so on. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, and use your content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we can use them without restriction and without owing you anything. You're not required to send feedback; if you do, this is the deal.
10Our intellectual property
The Service — including lessons, videos, quiz items, software, interface, and the MoneyMotion name and logo — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use the Service as provided. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11Third-party content
The Service includes content from third parties — market data feeds, identity providers like Google, payment processors, and occasional external links. We don't control and aren't responsible for third-party content or services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
12Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that market data will be accurate or timely; that lessons or quiz answers will be free of errors; or that use of the Service will improve your financial outcomes. Again: nothing here is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
13Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MoneyMotion and its officers, employees, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or related to the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; in those places, the limits apply to the maximum extent permitted.
14Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MoneyMotion against any claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party.
15Termination
You can close your account any time from your settings or by emailing us. We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the Service. On termination, your license to use the Service ends and we'll delete your personal information consistent with our Privacy Policy.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, disputes, and miscellaneous) survive.
16Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and MoneyMotion consent to personal jurisdiction there. Where local consumer law grants you stronger rights, nothing in this section overrides them.
Before filing anything formal, please email legal@moneymotion.org with the details. Most issues get solved in a single reply.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service and the law evolve. For material changes, we'll give at least 14 days' notice by email or through the Service before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't, you can close your account.
18Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any order form you've signed with us are the entire agreement between you and MoneyMotion about the Service.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that's not a waiver — we can still enforce it later.
- Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
